The Truth About Opiate Addiction
  • More people die from prescription pain reliever overdoses (like Vicodin and OxyContin) than from heroin and cocaine combined. 1-in-6 North Carolina teens reported having taken a prescription medication without a prescription. 22 out of 25 cities with the highest abuse rate are located in the south. Three of the top 10 are in North Carolina. Baby Boomers are 4x's more likely to abuse opioids than millenials. One in five people that use opioid pain relievers will end up on heroin.

Be Aware. Don't Share

Lock your meds. Only 5% of children who misuse prescription medications say they get them from a stanger, a drug dealer or the internet. Prevent family members from abusing your meds by securing them so they cannot be accessed. For more info, visit lockyourmeds/org
